Exploring Trash

Raphael Fernandez:

Age: 14

Gender: Male

Physical Appearance: "He had long arms and, even with the poor diet he had, the pose- the grace- of an athlete. He had long hair over his face and an enchanting smile." Raphael also wear a long t-shirt to pull over his head on hot days, hacked off jeans that he found in the trash and no shoes.

Ethnicity: Filipino

Birth Place: Bahala- The Garbage City

Education: Raphael is supposed to be going to the Mission school but he never goes. He has been asked to go to the school but does not want to as he has to work to feed his family and himself.

Friends: Raphael does not have many friends, only two. Their names are Rat and Gardo. Gardo is Raphael’s closes friend, they are basically brothers as he was born 7 hours before Raphael and on the same sheet. Rat is Raphael other friend he has no family or anyone who look after him.

Family: Raphael doesn’t have a mother or father, only an auntie and cousins. The closest thing he has to a brother is Gardo and Rat.

Hobbies and Jobs: Raphael does not have any hobbies but only one job that he focus on and that is finding food, money or objects that he can sell at a junk store to get money for his family can eat.

Values and Beliefs: Raphael values his friends and family as he has someone to look out for him and to feed him. Raphael believes that he will end up living somewhere nice with his two best friends.

 

Gardo:

Age: 14

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: Filipino

Birth Place: Bahala-The Garbage City

Physical Appearance:  Gardo is as thin as a whip and he has long arms, people say he is too serious, and a boy without a smile. Gardo looks very watchful and has a shaved head and eyes that don't blink. Gardo wears jeans, a large t-shirt and a formal shirt over the t-shirt with trainers for shoes.

Education: Gardo is supposed to be going to the mission’s school but chooses not to as he has to work for money and food.

Friends: Gardo has two friends, they are Raphael and Rat.

Family: Gardo doesn’t have any family but he lives with Raphael and his auntie and cousins.

Hobbies and Jobs: Gardo does not have any hobbies but his job s to scavenge through garbage to find anything he can sell or eat.

Values and Beliefs: Gardo values his friends Raphael and Rat and he believes that they would  be living in Behala forever

 

Rat:

Age: 10-11

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: Unknown

Birthplace: Sampalo 

Physical Appearance: "His real name is Jun-Jun. Nobody called him that though, because he lived with the the rats and he came to look like one". Rat does not wear any clothes except for an old pair of shorts. He has a very skinny and pinched face with big broken teeth sticking out of his mouth. Kids used to call him monkey boy before rat because his face has a wide-eye staring look that monkeys do have. According to Raphael his arms are as skinny as pencils and you could break them with your finger and thumb.

Education: Rat sometimes goes to the mission school, but mostly for the food and computer time.

Friends: Rat's friends are Father Julliard, Olivia Western, Raphael and Gordo.

Family: Rat no known family

Hobbies and Jobs: Rat doesn't really have time for hobbies as he is scavenging through trash for a Job but going to the mission school is like a hobbies that he does every so often.

Values and Beliefs: Rat values the mission school and his friends. He believes that if he saves up enough money that they can get out of Behala and live a better life.

 

Father Juilliard:

Age: 63

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: Presumably Western 

Birthplace: Presumably Western

Education: Father Julliard runs the Pascal Aguila mission school in the Behala dumpsite. "I will tell you that i have been running the Pascal Aguia mission school on the Behala dumpsite for seven years now." 

Friends: Father Julliard’s friends are Olivia Western, rat and the two other boys.

Family: Presumably a nice wife, siblings and children.

Hobbies and Jobs: Father Juilliard doesn't have times for hobbies as he has a big job running the mission school and not letting it shut down.

Values and Beliefs: Father Juilliard values the mission school and keeping running and he believes that the mission school can really make a difference in the children’s life.

 

Senator Regis Zapanta:

Ethnicity: Presumably Pilipino 

Birthplace: Presumably Philippines

Education: Probably educating in a very good school but he is an adult no so he has finished his degrees.

Friends: Senator Zapanta probably has friends that connect him through work but outside of work, he won't have any friends because he is not a nice person.

Physical Appearance: "He's the fattest man i have ever saw!"

Hobbies and Jobs: Senator Zapanta is the Prime Minister of the Philippines, so he is very busy with that job and probably doesn’t have any time for hobbies.
